Scratched Knees

Another tough weekend of practices.

Exhausting scrimmages and drills on Saturday are only a warm-up to what happened today. As a way to prepare for the World Cup (next weekend!), the NYU Nundu and Hofstra Flying Dutchman (with a name like that, you don't know what to expect!) faced off today with four games that were anything but blow outs. Hofstra had a lot of quick chasers that have appeared to master the breakaway while NYU played a pass-heavy game, monitoring the field and attempting to eliminate threats.

To me, these games were absolutely fantastic. I absolutely loved sprinting down the field and trying to find the best way to get that quaffle through one of the hoops. It was really physical (as expected), and our team had several injuries, but we should be all good to go come next weekend. I was trucked once or twice and ended up on the ground, but it wasn't anything I couldn't shake off. I even managed to score twice.

From our pre-game chant to the impromptu crowd that gathered, there was nothing I didn't like. Well, I think I should probably invest in some turf tape.

I can't wait for next weekend.

Club Nundu, not Sandwiches.

You see what I did there? That's because the NYU Nundu are now officially the NYU Nundu! That's right, club status. I don't know what else to say since I haven't been there for the whole battle, but I'm really glad that this has finally happened. It's nice to be recognized.

Speaking of which, I am now on the World Cup team for NYU! Me, along with Myles, my aforementioned Slytherin roommate, are two of the chasers selected to go to the World Cup in November. This means more intense training, additional practices, play creating, weight lifting, and more fun of course. I'm so excited for the whole experience. Facing other teams, executing plays, wearing awesome jerseys with a name and number and everything.

Today at practice, we helped to shoot a music video which I hope will come out soon. It's sure to be great considering they have Quidditch as the main subject. What video with Quidditch in it isn't awesome?

Gryffindor

"You might belong in Gryffindor, where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry set Gryffindors apart"
-The Song of the Hogwarts Sorting Hat

I'm a bit late on this, but I figure that this is a good place to start!

First let me introduce myself. My name is JJ Lynn and I'm currently a chaser on the NYU Nundu Quidditch Team. This means that I wear a white head band and run up and down the Quidditch pitch trying to put the Quaffle through the hoops.

So what is the point of this little blog thing I have going on here? Well part of it is for my own little amusement (hopefully you obtain some too). The other part is I want to share with other people my experiences while on a Quidditch team. Seeing as I'm a freshman right now, I hope to continue doing this through all four years of my NYU career.

Today the Nundu sorted the members of the team into the four Hogwarts Houses. This created four mini scrimmage teams for us to play with during practices. I was sorted into Gryffindor (honestly did not see that one coming) while my roommate was sorted into Slytherin (uh oh; looks like we've got some rivalry). Myles, the aforementioned roommate, is also on the team as a chaser.

It's about 2 in the morning right now, so I'm going to head to sleep after a hard's day practice.

Nundu Out.
